Mayor Andre Pierre is running for re-election, City of North Miami
As Mayor of the city of North Miami, Florida, I have accepted the dual role of public servant and leader. Those roles carry with them the inherent challenge to discern between service and leadership. While achieving that balance, I have become very aware of the steps we, the City Council and City administration, have taken to set the pace for North Miami in this age of economic uncertainty.
We are indeed very pleased 'that we have maintained a level of service in 2010 to which our residents have become accustomed. We were extremely proud that amidst some cutbacks, we were able to achieve what many communities throughout our nation aspire to be, the All-America City designation as awarded by the National Civic League earlier this year.
As you will see in this report of our accomplishments in 2010, we continue to take well planned incremental steps to strengthen our community by focusing on the development of our local economy. In spite of the general economic malaise that is afflicting our country, North Miami continues to advance through carefully chosen projects.
It is our residents, our homeowners. Who are the pillars of our great city. We must continue to look over their interests via programs that serve our city's residential needs and thus strengthen the fabric at our neighborhoods.
While looking ahead, responsible municipal governments must also look at the current needs and resources that' make any city run as an efficient business. Municipal governments must be aware of and responsible for the city's infrastructure, those areas which may not be so glamorous to the public, but without which, any city would quickly come to a halt.
There is never a dull moment in North Miami. From sports and healthy life choices, to world class exhibitions and performances, to a wide range of community events and regional celebrations, North Miami caters to and serves one of South Florida's most diverse communities. Communities are built by people who live in them: municipal governments’ ore maintained by civil servants who run them. II is a partnership crafted from mutual respect, admiration and dedication ... and North Miami your city, our city, is a shining example of such partnership.
